14.   Miya Ando - Mono no Aware

→ Scenography / Visual Direction / Object

An exhibition system translating impermanence into material and spatial composition.

Exhibitions of material-based artworks are often presented through neutral display systems.
This reduces the sensory and temporal dimensions of the work.
The project explores how scenography can embody the notion of transience.
Ando’s work reflects cycles, transformation, and the passage of time.
It operates through contrasts between permanence and erosion.
Space can materialize this tension through texture and absence.

Impermanence → White pebble ground surfaces
Material contrast → Raw vs reflective elements
Temporal cycles → Repetition of spatial zones
Stillness → Minimal and reduced compositions
Duality → Balance between organic and constructed forms

The exhibition creates a contemplative spatial environment.
It translates the concept of impermanence
into a tactile and immersive experience.
